The story

A table for the dinner that runs late.

Some tables are for eating. The Orsay is for staying: for the second pot of coffee, the homework spread across the top, the dinner that goes on because nobody wants to leave.

It is one quiet gesture, a pale stone circle on a sculpted black pedestal, so it holds a room without crowding it. A round table has no head and no foot. Everyone sits in the conversation.

The design

Three decisions that make the Orsay.

Nothing on this table is decoration for its own sake. Each part answers a question about how a dining table is really used.

Sintered Stone: The Look of Marble, Made for Every Day

Sintered Stone: The Look of Marble, Made for Every Day

The 59-inch top is sintered stone: natural minerals pressed and fired into a dense, non-porous slab with soft grey veining. It resists heat, stains and everyday scratches, never needs sealing, and wipes clean with a damp cloth.

A Sculptural Hourglass Pedestal

A black steel pedestal narrows to an hourglass waist and is finished with gold-tone bands at the waist and base. With one central support and no corner legs, chairs tuck in easily all the way around the table.

Room for Four to Six

Room for Four to Six

At 59 inches across, the Orsay seats four comfortably every day and six when friends come over. A round table keeps everyone in the conversation, and the top is rated for up to 400 lb, so a full dinner spread is no trouble.

Dimensions

Planning tip. Leave about 36" (90 cm) between the table's edge and the nearest wall, so chairs slide out easily. That makes a room of roughly 11 × 11 ft right for the Orsay.
