The story

For a living room where the clutter has somewhere to go.

Every living room has its pile: remotes, chargers, a router, a stack of games, the magazines nobody throws away. The Daumier slides all of it out of sight behind two doors, and its 63-inch top keeps room for the screen, a lamp and a few favorite books.

It is solid walnut with a lacquer finish that lets the grain show, and its sliding doors are walnut veneer faced with narrow vertical slats. Four slim legs angle outward from under the corners, a mid-century stance that keeps the long cabinet light.

The design

Three details that make the Daumier.

The Daumier is a plain walnut box with a ribbed front. These three details explain the wood, the doors and the size.

Solid Walnut, Slatted Doors

The case is solid walnut with a lacquer finish that shows the grain. The two sliding doors are walnut veneer, faced with narrow vertical slats that catch the light.

Two Doors, Two Shelves

Two Doors, Two Shelves

The doors slide one behind the other, so either half of the cabinet opens. Each half has one shelf, and there are no handles on the front.

Long, Tall and Light on Its Legs

Long, Tall and Light on Its Legs

At 63 inches wide, 18.5 deep and 31.5 high, the Daumier holds a screen in the living room or works as a credenza in a dining room. Four tapered legs angle outward from under the corners.

Dimensions

Will it fit?

Width 63″ 160 cm
Depth 18.5″ 47 cm
Height 31.5″ 80 cm

Planning tip. The Daumier is 63" (160 cm) wide, 18.5" (47 cm) deep and 31.5" (80 cm) high. At that height, a screen set on top sits higher than on a low console, so check where its center will fall from your sofa, or hang the screen on the wall above. Leave a few inches behind it for cables, and keep about 30" (75 cm) of walkway in front.
