Details
- Solid Acacia Case and Fronts: The top, sides, doors and drawer fronts are solid acacia in a soft mid-brown finish, built from short staves so the grain and tone shift from board to board.
- Mitred-Frame Doors: Each door is a flat acacia frame with crisp 45-degree mitred corners around a centre panel of vertical staves, and opens on concealed hinges.
- Three Drawers, Two Cabinets: Three centre drawers, each 17.7" W x 13.3" D x 4" H inside (45 x 34 x 10 cm), run on metal slides; each cabinet is 19.3" W x 16.3" D inside (49 x 41 cm) with one adjustable shelf.
- Black Edge Pulls: Five slim matte black metal pulls run along the top edges of the doors and drawers, the three top pulls in one line just under the top.
- Splayed Side Frames: At each end, a shaped side frame with mitred top corners turns down into two tapered legs, so four splayed legs carry the full 63" length with the floor open below.

The story

A dining room fills up with things that have no obvious home: the good plates, the table linens, candles, the serving bowls that come out twice a year. The Boissière Sideboard gives them two cabinets and three drawers, and keeps the front calm: a long run of solid acacia with five slim black lines.
Each door is framed with crisp mitred corners around a panel of vertical staves, and the drawers between them are plain. At each end, a shaped side frame turns down into two splayed legs, so the whole 63 inches stand clear of the floor and the room keeps its light.
The design

The Boissière sideboard is a long box of solid acacia on an open, splayed base. Three details give it its character.
Mitred Frames, Black Pulls
Each door is a flat solid acacia frame with crisp mitred corners around a panel of vertical staves. Slim matte black edge pulls run along the tops of the two doors and the three drawers.
Two Cabinets, Three Drawers
The doors open on concealed hinges onto two cabinets with one adjustable shelf each, and three drawers run on metal slides in the centre. Four splayed legs on two shaped side frames carry the case.
For the Dining or Living Room Wall
At 63 inches wide and 31.5 inches high, it keeps plates, linens or games below and a lamp, a bowl and a vase on top. It belongs to the Boissière collection.

Planning tip. The Boissière Sideboard is 63" W x 17.7" D x 31.5" H (160 x 45 x 80 cm). Plan on a wall of at least 6 ft (about 1.8 m), and leave about 36" (90 cm) clear in front so the doors can swing open and someone can still pass behind a dining chair. At 31.5" (80 cm) high, its top sits just above a standard 30" (76 cm) dining table; hang art or a mirror about 8-10" (20-25 cm) above it.
