The story

Every home needs one chair that is clearly meant for sitting a while: a book, a cup of coffee, a lamp at your shoulder. The Monge is that chair, deep enough to settle into and square enough to sit neatly in a corner or beside a sofa.
Its square arms each have a long rectangular cut-out near the top, which keeps the solid outline light. The seat is foam over pocket coils, the back and seat cushions are attached, and the whole chair is covered in curly off-white bouclé, on four short black legs.

The Monge is a simple, squared-off chair. Three details give it its character, from the arms to the seat.
Curly Off-White Bouclé
The whole chair is upholstered in off-white bouclé with a soft, curly texture. A single stitched channel runs across the upper part of the back cushion.
Square Arms with Cut-Outs
Each arm is a flat, 3-inch-wide panel with a long rectangular opening near the top. The cut-outs let light through and keep the squared-off shape from looking heavy.
A Deep Seat for Reading
At 30 inches wide and 31.5 inches deep, the Monge fits a reading corner or a living room pair. The 24-inch-wide seat is foam over pocket coils, 18.5 inches high, and holds up to 300 lb.
