The story

For long lunches that run into the afternoon.

A late breakfast, a lunch that runs long, friends who stay for one more coffee: some tables are busy at every hour. The Pereire is made for a table like that, with flat arms to lean on and an open cane back that keeps a full room feeling light.

Its frame is wood in a warm natural finish, with two angled legs forming an A on each side beneath a broad, flat arm. A diamond-patterned rattan cane panel fills the gently curved back, and a tighter cane weave forms the seat.

The design

Three details behind the Pereire.

The Pereire is made of wood and woven cane, joined in a simple, open frame. Three details give it its character.

Two Weaves of Rattan Cane

Two Weaves of Rattan Cane

The back panel is rattan cane in an open, diamond-patterned weave that lets the light through; the seat is a tighter, plainer weave. Both are set into the natural-finish wood frame.

A-Frame Legs, Flat Arms

A-Frame Legs, Flat Arms

On each side, two angled legs meet in an A beneath a broad, flat wood arm. The open frame gives the chair a clear mid-century outline from the side and from behind.

Will it fit?

Width 20″ 51 cm
Depth 22″ 56 cm
Height 31″ 79 cm
Each piece

Planning tip. Each chair is 20" (51 cm) wide and 22" (56 cm) deep, with an 18" (46 cm) seat height for a standard dining table. Allow about 24" (61 cm) of table edge per chair, and leave about 36" (90 cm) between the table and the wall so chairs pull out easily. As these are armchairs, measure the clearance under your table's apron; the arms may not slide underneath.
